CINGS New Asian Filmmakers Collective Screening & Talk

New Asian Filmmakers Collective (NAFC), together with CINGS, presents a selection of short films from the New Asian Filmmakers Collective, a Beijing-based film collective with more than 200 filmmakers who shares Asian identity and passion for culture. At this special event, CINGS will moderate a panel discussion about Chinese independent filmmaking.

Since 2016, NAFC has conducted more than 20 workshops at metropolis such as Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul, as well as multi-culture cities of Xinjiang Altay, Fujian Peitian, Macau, Phnom Penh etc, where 300 amateur and beginner filmmakers have been trained so far.

During a limited time of two weeks, each participant made a short film as director and meanwhile developed other technical skills through teamwork. The traveling workshops invite international mentors and call for participation of people of mixed age and background. After ten years, NAFC workshops helped local film communities, contributed to regional moving-image making and becomes well-known among those who cannot follow the traditional way of learning and filmmaking.
